Trees in Winter Light

I just loved the way the late afternoon sunlight shone through these beautiful big old trees and illuminated the coarse bark on this particular tree. Snow that is in shade, but not in strongly cast shadow, has a stunning glow to it, filled with airy pinks, purples, and blues. I wanted to capture the feeling of winter light in this painting.
