Lunenburg’s Newest Art Gallery + Paintings Featuring the Historic Town
A group of eleven local artists (including me!) have recently opened a beautiful art gallery in downtown Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. It is located on what is known as “Gallery Row” along with a variety of other established galleries. The gallery world is a new experience for me. Below, the regular journey I make along the coast from my home in Broad Cove to the gallery – and a selection of my paintings featuring the increasingly familiar historic town of Lunenburg.
Illuminated Peaks. Walking Between Worlds Collection. 12×18. Acrylic on paper/panel.
Lunenburg is rapidly becoming my second home. As I make my way to Gallery on Lincoln, I drive along the winding coast of the Dublin Shore to the LaHave ferry, hop across the river, and follow the twists and turns of country roads into the historic town.
I park on a typically steeply sloped street. Walking past colourful grand old houses (my favourite!), I glimpse sunlight sparkling on the harbour waters at the bottom of the hill.
Lincoln Street is lined with brightly coloured historical shop façades. Arriving at the gallery, I let myself in, hearing the now-familiar chime of the door, and the quiet roll of car tires as people come and go. The walls are hung with a beautiful and welcoming display of work by eleven local artists, and the town is waking up for the summer season.
If you’re in the South Shore area of Nova Scotia, you’re most welcome to stop by the gallery for a visit!

Painting the historic town of Lunenburg
Here are a few of my paintings of Lunenburg. The feature the steep streets and colourful historic houses. I find myself drawn to the houses time and time again, and would love to paint some interior scenes, as well. I look forward to making many paintings of this beautiful area and town over the coming years.
