Where we met

Heartfelt wedding gifts

I recently had the pleasure of completing this portrait of the Royal Montreal Curling Club. It was a custom wedding gift for a happy couple.

My client reached out to me because her uncle was soon to be married and she and her family wanted to gift them something truly meaningful. The bride and groom met at the club some time ago. Both being avid curlers, the club is close to their hearts and they even chose it as their wedding venue.

We wanted to capture a portrait of the building, as well as a memory of the wedding day. The surroundings and unnecessary elements were downplayed or removed, a dusk light and spring flowers were added to reflect the season and day of the wedding. I made sure all windows were ablaze with light to further emphasize the feeling of bright celebration.

I very much enjoy how personal each individual artwork is. I love hearing the stories behind the ideas and helping to develop them into a strong finished image that captures the most important elements of the subject. It’s such a pleasure to see it all come together and to see the smiles and anticipation that comes with giving such a customized gift.

“From start to finish, it was great working with Michelle at Painted Stories. She provided insight in to her process as an artist and I really relied on her fantastic advice and guidance as to how best the design would come to life. My family and I were thrilled to gift Michelle’s beautiful artwork as a wedding gift.” – Julia

It’s always so nice to hear from clients that the experience was a good one for them, too. I am so glad that I was able to create this gift for the couple and sincerely hope that it brings back wonderful memories for years to come.
